Cable Technician/Lead Tech

POSITION: Cable Technician/Lead Tech
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager/President
SALARY RANGE: $ 15.75 – $ 19.25/hr (based on experience)

5+ years experience in structured cabling system installation, termination, testing, and labeling of Cat 5e, Cat6 and Cat7, RG59, RG6, and RG11 coax, backbone fiber optic cable, Cable Support and raceway systems, fishing walls, and TR Room Build-Outs. BICSI Installer and Manufacturer training a plus. Knowledge of applicable Codes and Standards a Plus.


Duties include:

    • Installation, termination and labeling of low voltage (CAT5e, 6, 6A Coax, Fiber Optic,
    Access Control, CCTV, DAS) cabling according to industry Codes and Standards
    • Read and understand Project and Construction Drawings
    • Dress and punch down Termination blocks, patch panels and data jacks
    • Build out TRs (Telecommunications Rooms)
    • Communication with Project Manager/Lead Technician on a daily basis

    • Review of materials needed for a job before starting work
    • Maintaining a clean and organized Company Vehicle and job site (i.e., tools and
    supplies)
    • Responsible for caring, tracking use and maintaining Company Capitol Tools (Ladders,
    Hammer Drills, Test Equipment, Fiber Optic Termination Equipment, ect…)
    • Submission of time sheets and completed tickets on a daily basis
    • Accurate/timely submission of paperwork both physically and electronically
    • Over see and mentor Cable Installers I and II
    • Ensuring Safe working practices and environment.
    • All other duties as assigned
    • Essential abilities of this job include

      o Ability to lift and carry 80 lbs
      o Repetitive lifting, pushing/pulling, Pinching/gripping, reaching overhead, reaching
      and working with arms away from the body
      o Walking, Standing, Sitting, Crawling, Kneeling & Squatting
      o Working in tight situations such as attics and maintenance holes
      o Climbing and carrying ladders up to 32’
      o Working indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions

    • Ability to use aerial lifts and platforms
