Mark Swiconek received his second Competent Leader Award today. He is a committed member of Toastmaster’s, having joined 28 years ago. It took 3 separate invitations from his minister to go to his first Toastmasters meeting. He has been addicted every since!
Mark is receiving his award from Terry Weaver, VP of Public Relations. Mark attributes his involvement in Toastmasters to becoming an athletic leader in the Special Olympics. Currently, he works at Oak Hill Hospital as an Environmental Services Technician.
Participants in Toastmasters learn skills related to the use of humor, gestures, eye contact, speech organization and overall delivery in addition to leadership skills.
We meet every Wednesday at Oak Hill Hospital’s Enrichment Center at 7PM-8:30PM.
The mission of Toastmasters is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
